A richer becomes a beggar

Dhamma Padaya – Jara Waggaya

The older man, who had lost the most valuable resource that could have been obtained in youth because of not being celibacy, abstains from sexual activities now for the sake of virtue. His virtue now seems like an older Heron that observes virtue by looking at a puddle where all the fish are gone.

His grieving for what he missed is like the worrying soldier who could not sharpen his bow before going to war.
