Dhamma Padaya – Mala Waggaya

Like a ripe leaf is about to fall from the tree, ‘Yama Palla’ s( the workers in hell) wait for the one who is now very old and has not done good deeds throughout his life because he has not prepared for a prosperous afterlife.

He should immediately endeavour wisely to have a prosperous afterlife.
To be born in a higher divine world or a great land, one must purify oneself by removing impurities in him like metal is heated to remove rust.
Now ‘Mara’ has come close and is at the forefront,
I cannot see any refuge with you who are between your life and death.

He should immediately endeavour wisely to have a good birth for himself.
Just as metal is heated to remove rust, one who purifies himself by eliminating defilements and concentrating his mind will not experience rebirth or ageing.
