Dhamma Padaya – Bhikshu Waggaya
The monk who became a monk by being impressed by the Buddha’s dispensation dwells in compassion and attains the ‘Nirwana’ by pacifying the ignorant thoughts created by the perception of ‘I’.
Monks! Get rid of these useless and impermanent things you have grasped as ‘Mine’,
From the point you start eliminating Greed- Hatred, you are about to attain ‘Nirwana’.
Terminate the grasping of the five Skandha,
(Five elements of thought- image-sensation-perception-notion-cognition)
Eliminate the Five Hindrances,
Cultivate the five intangible organs Shraddha-Wiryaya-Sathi-Samadhi- Pragngna (Perfect Confidence, diligence-consious-concentration-wisdom),
It is said that the monk who eliminates the clinging to the Image-sound-smell-taste-touch will transcend the Ocean of ‘Sansara’ (birth and death cycle) by crossing the tide of sensual pleasure.
Monks! Cultivate meditation,
Don’t act without being conscious,
Don’t get impressed with any image that comes into contact with your senses.
Don’t act without being conscious, which leads to hell, where you will have to swallow the lumps of metal,
Don’t let yourself get burned out by crying and grieving.
If you do not meditate, wisdom will not be cultivated.
If wisdom is not cultivated, meditation will not be cultivated.
If one cultivates meditation and wisdom, definitely, he is closer to ‘Nirwana’.
The conscious monk who goes to a deserted place perfectly contemplates the facts of Dharma wisely, clinging to nature.
At one point, however, once someone has understood wisely and consciously the true nature of ‘Skandha’ that arises and ceases continuously, he will be able to know wisely what ‘Nirwana’ is to be because of the appeasement he experiences.
Thus, wisdom grows within the monk who sees ‘Nirwana’.
That ‘Bhikshuwa’, who lives happily by subduing the senses, also perfectly protects the ‘Pathimoksha Shila’.
Associate with good friends who have a pure life and are free from slothful.
Be competent at disciplined behaviour, being with friendly manners of welcoming and treating.
From then on, it ends suffering by being happy and acting correctly.
