Dhamma Padaya – Dharmastha Waggaya

A priest with an ignorant and delusional nature does not become a wise ascetic.
The wise one comprehends the value of ‘Nirwana’, comparing that tremendous eternal happiness obtained by attaining ‘Nirwana’ with the temporary pleasure brought by sensual pleasures, just like weighing two substances on a scale to know which is heavier.
He becomes a wise ascetic by ridding himself of evil thoughts.
He who has understood this life and the hereafter is called a great ascetic.
