Khuddaka Nikya- Suththanipatha Pali- Attahka Waggaya
Remember, this is the Suthra that shows how to get rid of sorrow and lamentation by transcending the ‘Sansara’ where the creatures travel whilst grieving, covered with ‘Craving’.
Due to excessive ‘Craving’, the human being with undisciplined senses clings to ‘Sansara’ and is deluded by delusion with an extreme arrogance of “I Mine-My Soul”.
Thus, by not having a rest to the body and mind to contemplate the true nature of the parts known as “I” by looking at them, one is destroyed by getting lost in the world of lust and being unable to gain consciousness.
Because one is unable to get rid of the ‘Craving for Existence’, which causes worldly pleasures, one descends into the lusts again and again, seeking the same worldly pleasures, no matter how much pain and misery must be endured in the ‘Sansara’.
This ignorant person who does not obey to the advice of the wise
and is unable to be conscious because of clinging to this ‘Sansara’ by being greedy for lust brings him misery that causes lamentation regardless of being born in whatever state of bliss after death.
Therefore, there will be no reason for a good person who is disciplined to get rid of the suffering in this anomalous world and attain a noble state to engage in minor or wrong behaviour that is not approved by the sages like the Arahaths.
Eliminate the ‘Craving’ that causes this existence by wisely observing and seeing that the Eight Worldly Doctrine shakes the entire world.
The fool, deluded by the sensual pleasure, boasts in front of the ‘Mara’s’ mouth without eliminating the ‘Craving’ that takes him from existence to existence whilst bringing him sorrow.
Just like a fish trembling in a drying puddle of water, wisely observe the way you constantly tremble with fear of losing loved ones, with the fear of not getting loved ones, with the fear of not having loved things, with the fear of having to be with disliked ones or something, with the fear of getting disliked ones or something, etc.
By seeing in this way, avoid desiring to exist by letting go of the grasping of everything as “I- Mine- My soul”.
Get rid of the desire for both extremist ends of practising virtue, ‘Kama Sukallikanu Yoga’ (Excessive sensual pleasure on the body as a virtue) or ‘Aththakilamathanu Yoga’ (Excessive suffering on the body as a virtue). Observe wisely and consciously, looking at the perceptions caused by the images or objects, contacts with your senses and the thoughts that emerge caused by the willingness-reluctance caused by grasping those perceptions.
Do not cling to images or objects by understanding how they arise, exist, and disappear.
Frustrate yourself about the thoughts that have formed thus far, claiming that the self is a permanent soul.
From then on, due to the real understanding gained by wisely and consciously observing what is heard and seen, if one is wise, one begins to dwell on being conscious without clinging even to a little thing.
The wise who wisely understands the true nature of all the external animate- inanimate images as well as that there is nothing in any of them that can claim as “I- Mine- My soul” by understanding the true nature of the body and mind, uproots all defilements of ‘Greed- Hatred- Delusion’ and does not claim any right over them.
The wise who consciously dwell without delay because of uprooting the spikes called defilements do not desire or hope for anything in this or any other world.
