Anguththara Nikaya- Ekadasakanipatha Pali- Anussathi Waggaya
Remember, this is a part of the Sutra that includes guidance from the Buddha pointing out the blessings that come out of growing loving-kindness.
Monks, you must practise ‘Loving kindness’ within your mind to be able to get rid of defilements ‘Greed- Hatred- Delusion.’
‘Loving kindness’ should be cultivated,
‘Loving kindness’ should be maintained to a higher plain,
‘Loving kindness’ should be trained more,
‘Loving kindness’ should be used as a foundation for the mind.
One should generate ‘Loving Kindness powerfully with a persistent determination and start to practise it to avoid arising Hateful thoughts that have been familiarising so far.
Thus, the noble person who cultivates ‘Loving Kindness’ within himself may wish to have eleven benefits of blessings.
What are those eleven?
- Getting a good night’s sleep.
- Being able to wake up in a good mood.
- Not having nightmares during sleep.
- Be loved by other people.
- Be loved by invisible creatures, including the Gods.
- Getting God’s blessing and protection.
- Not being harmed by fire, poison or weapons.
- Being able to concentrate the mind immediately.
- Having a very pleasant facial appearance
- Will not die while unconscious.
- If he is not able to understand himself or a failure to attain the fruit of the Path to ‘Nirwana’, he will arrive in a Brahma realm after death.
