Khuddaka Nikaya

Punyakriya~ Suthraya

Khuddaka Nikaya- Ithivuththaka Pali- Thika Nipathaya- Duthiya Waggaya
Remember that this is the sutra preached by the Buddha on the right actions to be taken by a disciple in order to accumulate merits.

I have heard what the Blessed One preached exactly as it was said.

“Monks, there are three actions that can accumulate merit.

What are those three?

  1. Acts of generosity
  2. Being righteous
  3. Acts of meditation
Monks, these are the three actions that can cultivate merit”.

Instead of ending with that, the Blessed One continued:

The Noble Disciple who engages in these meritorious acts of almsgiving, peaceful, pious existence, and the cultivation of loving-kindness becomes an apex great person who experiences fulfilled happiness both in this world and in the hereafter.

The wise man who cultivates those three good virtues that produce happiness is blessed to have a life that produces prosperity free from anguish.

When the Buddha said this, I have heard it.
