Namo Thassa Bhagawatho Arahatho Samma Sambuddhassa

Blessed One!
According to the advice given by the Blessed One,
that “Dhamma shines only when it is opened”,
we have prepared the following Dhamma books,
“Athi Pujaniya Pirith Poth Wahanse” which includes 37 Suthras,
“Sathipattahna Meditation”, “Dhamma Padaya” and the English translations of the above-mentioned books.

My youngest sister, my daughter, my spouse, and one of my friends
encouraged me in presenting this book in the most valuable way possible with adequate explanation by reading this book as readers and commentators.
That is the immense respect shown to the Blessed One by them.

We worship the Blessed One who imposed and declared the Four Noble Truths, which gave light and comfort to our lives, who were tired of sufferings, upheavals and mental sufferings in the darkness of ignorance.
We Pay our immense respect to the Buddha!

We worship the Sri Saddhamma, which is fulfilled with an attribute called ‘Sandrushtika’, preached by the Buddha that helped us see Gautama Buddha.
We Pay our immense respect to the Dhamma!

We worship the jewel of Sanggha, who are the Blessed One’s disciples with the attributes of ‘Supatipanna -Ujupatipanna-Knyayapatipanna-Samichipatipanna’.
We pay immense respect to the Sanggha
who preserve the Buddha’s Dispensation!

Thus, I have made the main purpose of compiling this Dhamma book to
explain and shine the true Dhamma in the way that I can.

I have translated a few Dhamma of the ‘Sri Saddharmaya’ preached
by the Buddha, most accurately through my cultivated wisdom. That Dhamma, which helped me to see Gautama Buddha, is presented to you without any intention of gaining any worldly benefit or profit to help at least one devotee to understand the Buddha’s teaching.

I have used the Pali-Sinhala dictionaries written by Ven Madithiyawela Siri Sumangala, Ven Polvatthe Buddhadaththa, and my Dhamma understanding to translate Pali into Sinhala.

So, please note that the English translations and the Sinhala translations presented in all our books and the website are done only by us to avoid any misinterpretations.
There is a significant contrast between the Sinhala translations of Buddha’s teachings in today’s mainstream world and the translations we have done.

As the Buddha himself emphasised in the ‘Kalama’ Suthra, always reflect wisely, contemplate wisely, and observe what practice might help you to lessen the ‘Craving- Obstinacy- Arrogance’ within you.

Accordingly, it is your responsibility to accept this translation or the standard translations.
If you accept the translations we shared here, please follow them without delay. Strive for it.

“Accordingly, you ‘Kalama’!
Do not accept anything just because you hear something on the news –
Do not accept anything just because you inherited it
from your parents –
Do not accept anything just because it is stated to be the case –
Do not accept anything just because someone says that it is mentioned in a section of the Theory book (Thripitaka) –
Do not accept anything just because it is demonstrated by reasoning –
Do not accept anything just because it is a ‘Doctrine’ –
Do not accept anything just because it conforms to a structure –
Do not accept anything just because it is according to
your point of view –
Do not accept anything just because of the desire to see the preacher’s eloquence or skilful presentation –
Do not accept anything preached by even a monk unless he is a highly disciplined noble and practises accordingly –

‘Kalama’,
You must think intelligently and know for yourself in this way,
at some time,
‘This is something that generates the impurity of ‘Greed-Hatred’, and if I act in this manner, evil will arise in me’ –
‘It is improper because it causes the impurities of ‘Greed-Hatred’ to arise in me’ –
‘If I act like this, I will incur the wrath of the superior sages –
‘If I act this way,
I will be surrounded by misfortunes and bring miseries to myself.

Accordingly, by thinking wisely, ‘Kalama’,
you should immediately get rid of such actions or associations!”

‘Kalama’,
You must think intelligently and know for yourself in this way,
at some time,
‘This is something that does not generate –
the impurity of ‘Greed-Hatred’’,
‘If I act in this manner, Perfect merits will increase within me’ –
‘It is right because
it does not cause the impurities of ‘Greed-Hatred’ to arise within me – so it is blameless’ –
‘If I act like this, I will be praised by the superior sages’ –
‘By acting in this way, all good and healing will arrive to me because of being able to tame the senses’.

So ‘Kalama’, contemplate this way wisely, correctly distinguishing Perfect merit and evils, and understand the benefits of that good and the danger of that evils may occur wisely.
Dwell in association with what is appropriate and discarding what is inappropriate,”.
